Study skills
Study skills are a key to any eflective approach to student learning. With the right set of skills students are able to use their time anciently and productively in order to prepare themselves for assessments.
This knowledge will result in increased confidence, competence, and self- esteem. It will encourage them to take control of their own learning and develop their skills and approaches to study with improved outcome and achievement results.
Unfortunately, in teaching and learning, these imperative personal skills have mostly been ignored and it is now time to recognise their essential use in teaching and learning.
Instead, many schools have invested huge amounts of resources on various (online) activities that sometimes put more pressure on students, leaving them stressed and unprepared for their exams.
At Aboka, study skills remain central in the development and progress of our students. Our students are effectively trained to:
• Plan and manage their time efficiently,
• Exam preparation technique Question analysis,
• Note making,
• Revision strategies,
• Personal learning styles,
• Memory and,
• Mind mapping.
Thus, equipping them with the skills to apply these optimal learning strategies to suit their needs and the environment. The approach also allows our students to become intrinsically motivated and engaged in their own learning. They will develop autonomous learning skills by setting learning goals and will be able to plan on how to meet these goals through self -evaluation and by tracking their own progress
